In any closed traverse the algebraic sum of the latitudes should equal zero, and the algebraic sum of the departures should equal zero, provided the work is correct. In other words, the sum of the north latitudes (Nothings) should be equal to the sum of south latitudes (Sou things) and the sum of the east ed-pastures (Ea stings) should be equal to the sum of the west departures (We stings).
