Symons rain gauge is a type of Non-recordng rain gauge used in india. It consist of cylindrical glass bottle in that we have to put a funnel, so in that rain time the water will filled with that bootle , with completion of filling water we can take the 1.25 cm rainfall. This rainfall measured at 8:30 AM.

It is a non-recording rain gauge.It consists of a funnel with a circular rim of 12.7 cm diameter and a glass bottle as a receiver.It is fixed vertically to the masonary foundation with the level rim 30.5
cm above the ground surface.The rain falling into the funnel is collected in the receiver and
is measured in a special measuring glass graduated in mm of rainfall.The rainfall is measured everyday at 8:30 hours IST.But when there is a heavy rainfall,it must be measured 3-4 times a day.It gives only total depth of rainfall but not intensity of the rainfall.
