Ways to solve a numerical problem

  1. Draw a neat sketch/Figure and label it fully
  2. Identify the situation to be analyzed
  3. State all the assumptions
  4. Note any limitations (Code specifications)
  5. Try to solve the problem using symbols (algebraically)
  6. Check the units for consistency
  7. Insert the numerical values at the last possible stage, using consistent system of units.
  8. Evaluate the result to an appropriate degree of precision
  9. Check the answer for reasonableness and accuracy.
